Exciting Changes at Porcupine Pie : Self-Catering Option coming soon at the lodge One of our frequent guests bought the property next to our entrance and is currently building a mini "Porcupine Pie”. It has a central lounge, dining & kitchen area based exactly on our lapa design, with a bedroom adjoining on either side – also exactly the same style as Porcupine Pie. The one bedroom will be Kingsize extra length bed with a full Bath & shower en suite. The other will have 2 single extra length beds, with a shower & toilet en-suite. They have designed it along the lines of the lodge, and are building and decorating with the same finishes. Judy and I will market and manage this alongside our existing lodge which will be wonderful for those of our guests (and potential guests) who would like a self-catering option. So keep an eye on our website – we will be finalizing rates, terms and conditions in the very near future and these will then be put on the website. Opening is due to be early January 2011. EMAIL ENQUIRIES		Pie runs wild at Botlierskop! Read more about 'the move' on our Blog. When we relocated Pie to Botlierskop he was put in the rabbit warren where he lived contentedly for some months. But having tasted freedom during his last few months with us he decided to break out, and is now having the best of both worlds. He comes in for food and company, but is free to roam the reserve the rest of the time. He said he still plans to write his memoirs at Porcupine Pie and post as Blogs but he has been a little too busy until now!
Major & Storm Settled in at Porcupine Pie It is just on a year ago that we sadly lost Cole to a wild Porcupine, and in that time Major and Storm have settled in and taken ownership of the lodge. Major (aka Scooby until we realised that it was a travesty of justice calling a dog as regal as that by the name Scooby – so we reverted to his original name and he is much happier!) has accepted that he is now a guest house dog and not a sheepdog any more. He still tries to herd the guests on occasion, but that is a Great Dane trait. Storm is just on a year old and still chews anything he can lay his paws on – the main cost to-date has been hose pipes which I have been replacing on a regular basis. We then got wise and started hanging the hose pipes up – so to show there were no hard feelings he dug up the irrigation pipe and ate that. Saffron just keeps on loving everyone!
Silver for honeymoon destination 2nd year running! We were thrilled to once again be awarded Silver at the recent SABIA Awards ceremony. Winning silver in 2009 had a significant impact on business, so being chosen as the second best honeymoon destination in South Africa in 2010 was wonderful news. DEPOSIT POLICY It’s always the few who spoil it for everyone else. Until now Porcupine Pie has not implemented it’s deposit policy, but following a couple of cases recently where guests had bookings, and according to them emailed cancellations through - which were never received by Porcupine Pie. This has caused loss of business as other potential bookings had been turned away, so from now on we are unfortunately going to have to be firmer with deposit requirements >> Visit our Rates page for more details
