The Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa offers one of the most beautiful coastlines in the World. Stretching from Stilbaai in the South to Tstisikamma in the North it comprises some 200km of pristine beaches interspersed with high ragged cliff faces. On the ocean side it winds past the villages and towns of Mossel Bay, George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay before entering the forests of the Tstisikamma where giant Yellow-wood trees stand proud.
Overlooking these beaches and bays stand the Outeniqua Mountains – a majestic mountain range reaching 1500m into the deep blue sky. On the inland side of the mountain range is a semi arid valley where ostrich’s abound. It is here that the picturesque town of Oudtshoorn is situated, and along with the many other activities, the Cango Caves located just west of Oudtshoorn are a must for any visitor.
Between the mountains and the sea is a holiday playground. Voted the best Golf destination in Middle East / Africa there are numerous spectacular golf courses requiring varying degrees of skill. Hiking, horse-riding & mountain-bike-riding trails, as well as canoeing, paragliding and abseiling are all on offer. And of course during winter, whale watching all along the coast line. |
